Finally I am able to show you my illustrations created for La Petite Magazine.

Issue 5 of La Petite magazine came out a few weeks ago and I was so excited to see my Little Lottie Ladies feature but was unable to do a post as I was away on holiday.

I was truly honoured when the editor - Rachelle Francey emailed me about this commission I couldn't think of a better place for my little ladies to be! This magazine is truly inspiring and a must read if you have little ones...inspiring photography, fabulous fashion, creative ideas and DIY projects...I guarantee you will keep going back for more...

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a creative and inspiring weekend..I just wanted to share my inspiring finds for my next Lottie Ladies..I bought this beautiful assortment of buttons in Liberties at the weekend when catching up with my Sister in London - I could of spent all day in that store! Excuse the sketchiness of the shot, I only have my ipod as a camera right now, so played around with it a bit in photoshop (it is work in progress after all!) I am being a bit more experimental with my work, trying new things and at the moment I seem to be fixed on buttons and collage!

Well after yesterdays post on Aqua and Coral I decided to get straight into some pattern designs and I thought I would share a sneeky peek with you - but not in too much detail, so as not to ruin the finished pieces :)

These are my initial starting points and I will use these elements to create some Lottie Ladies also...I feel a swimsuit/beach inspired range coming on from this set of patterns...watch this space...

Seeing as I am a true colour lover I thought it was about time I posted my current colour obsession and the initial mood that my next collection of lovelies will be based on... since finding lots of stunning visual references dedicated to these colours they seem to be popping up everywhere this season and used in the right way can look stunning...my thinking is to use this colour theme along with a mix of bold bird prints and collaged patterns...I will keep you posted with my work in progress! Im excited to see where this takes me...

In Full Bloom - New Fabric Collection!

Finally my test swatches of my new fabric designs arrived last week! I was so excited to receive the pack and just prayed that the colours would be as strong and vivid as on my computer screen and they were just as I hoped they would be! So I am pleased to now be able to sell them via my shop on spoonflower where they are available by the yard on different weights/types of fabrics ranging from Voile to Cotton Canvas.

Plus I have just seen on their site that they are offering

Please note that the colours viewed on the spoonflower site seem to be extra bright and almost neon, the actual colours are more matched to my images above of the final printed fabric.

NEW MONTH - NEW WORK!

Well since taking some time out and away from the world wide web I have been concentrating on organising myself, creating new works and giving myself some sort of direction with my work, blog, life etc!

Over the next week or so I will be giving my Lottie Frank boutique a tidy up to make way for my new illustrated ladies. To help with the back stock I have of older work I have decided to hold Monthly prize draws on the 1st of each month with a selection of Lottie Frank goodies to give away which will commence on the 1st of July - I will be creating a page of the rules etc during June so you can see how this will work.

Here are a few snippets of what I have been working on over the Month of May and I am excited to release my final pieces in the form of prints, iphone cases/skins, ipad/laptop skins, t-shirts, hoodies and the surface patterns that feature in the Lottie Frank Ladies Illustrations will be released as fabrics - I am just awaiting test swatches to come back before I sell the fabric via spoonflower but here you can get a sneak peek of what it will look like!

Going forward I am looking to work in this way to still create my illustrated ladies but make them more widely available on other products and incorporate a fabric line as well and maybe later on surface designs for stationery etc...

WOW! Spring has most definately sprung with fabulous prints and the most striking of colours...

This season is so inspirational and is pushing me more towards developing my own patterns to use on all sorts of products and fashion realated items..

The work of Mary Katranzou especially caught my eye, with her bold graphics and lampshade inspired pieces - amazing! view more of this collection here and past ones

Miu Miu & Kenzo have always been a favourite of mine and have definately come up with amazing collections this season...I am drawn towards the styling of the photoshoots in the Miu Miu campaign and the mix of colours from Kenzo - muted tones with vibrant hints of corals and turquoise

I am not normally a huge Stella Mccartney fan but I liked the use of a large botanical style print on this jacket, which isn't seen as often as the more bold graphic use of flowers, so I was drawn to its fresh appeal. View the collection here there are some beautiful dresses involved!

I added an Orla Kiely piece not particularly for pattern but for the bold use of colours and with the added styling of the bag, it is a definate must for spring...as you well know her prints speak for themselves and know you can not just wear them but have pieces for your home too! Wonder 4 - Tsumori Chisato - Designer

Happy Drawing • Happy Weekend

It is Friday once again, so we thought we would end the week with a sneeky peek of what we are up to right now...

Firstly is a snippet of our current ladies on the drawing board...being prepared and worked up to join the collection in our boutique, they are going to be a set of 4 prints and the name of these lovely ladies will be revealed in due course...A store update will be posted when they are looking their best and ready to hit the shops!

The final two snippets are from our current moodboard, now the whether has turned and its getting dark outside we felt inspired by tones such as navy and mauve, with as always a splash of colour in the form of floral blooms with a touch of sparkle taking us into the Christmas months...we are looking forward to working on this idea over the coming month and we will keep you posted along the way as the sophisticats step out of the paper and into your world!

We have been super busy experimenting with this weeks inspirations from Mondays NEW column - Weekly Wonders and instead of illustrating a new lady just yet we fancied having a play with pattern, as it is one of our greatest loves and an area we would love to build on, to create maybe stationery, fabrics and a whole array of loveliness to help brighten up our everyday lifes, as well as our homes :) This pattern is available to preview as fabric on spoonflower but not to buy just yet as we are building our collection but we would really love your thoughts on our 'Flamingo Love pattern'

Spoonflower is a great place to create one-off custom designs onto fabric and sell through their online store if you so wish, or just to design for yourself...there are some fantastic designs on there to shop from, Heidi Kenney being one of our favourites...so pop over and have a play x x x

Joie is a new free online magazine that is all about the art of joyful living. It’s a lifestyle mag and is edited by Jenn Wallace of Indie Fixx. It cover many of the same topics as Indie Fixx: art, craft, living, design, fashion, etc., but will allow for expanded coverage as well as LOTS more eye candy and each issue will be centered around a theme.

The premiere issue is now available! Issue 1 – Renewal

Joie will come out approximately every two months and the next issue is due out mid-October.

Zara Carpenter - Chatham Girl hats....

We were instantly drawn to these when searching through etsy for our next fashion fix, the one that caught our eye was the sailor hat, a stunning hat beautifully photographed we instantly wanted to be that girl in the photo!

Zara Carpenter is a writer of poetry, and maker of beautiful things. She spends most of my time making and customizing hats and also make jewellry from fabrics and oddments found in bric a brac shops and flea markets.....she love to turn something old and tired into something new and exciting.

The Sketchbook Project

We are so excited about this, we have just signed up to take part in this project and you can too...

Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country of America.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have them send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, you need to visit the site here and start by choosing a theme.

The Lottie ladies deliberated over a theme and decided to go for a random choice of 'its raining cats and dogs, we are so excited about receiving our little book and filling the pages in true Lottie Frank style!

We have recently come across Pip Studio, when out shopping and thought we would take a little look online and found even more wonderful delights by Pip...

PIP gets her inspiration from every-day incidents that seem quite ordinary but when scrutinised more closely are, in fact, exceptionally beautiful.

Once, on a lovely spring day in the park, she was moved by a wild rose in full bloom. She created a theme with roses originating from all over the world based on that single moment. Another time, she chanced upon a number of old suitcases and chests when she was decorating her attic studio and the contents of these chests became a nearly inexhaustible source of inspiration for her next collections.

PIP’s style has a warm and almost intimate touchy-feely character. She often uses a mix and match concept with layered patterns and has a sharp eye for tiny details and special finishing touches combined with a subtle colour pallet. Moreover, a product is never ‘stand alone’, but always an element in a broader concept.

The ladies at lottie frank HQ haven't been giving their blog enough love for the last year, so they have all come together and have decided it was time for an overhaul and a look at how they want to use it to its full potential... this is just the beginning, so watch this space and see how it develops to reflect the lottie ladies loves, lives, inspirations and passions, with new illustrated ladies being introduced along the way...

The little lady had a lovely 1st Christmas and got spoilt rotten by family & friends...

for being a little slack of late!

Our beautiful baby girl ' Isabel Marla' entered our lives on 17th April 2009.

She has taken over our lives for the past four months and we have cherised & loved every second.

So now routines are forming quite nicely I can get some structure back in my life, Im eager to get on with new works and stock up for the seasons to come.

Also extend my new range of 'little Lottie ladies' which I have lots of ideas for...with the help of my little bundle of inspiration!

Recent Commissions....

Here are a few of the recent commissions I was working on before Christmas.
Eternal Envy was a logo design for a high end fashion boutique in Chesire - it will be used on bags, point of sale, ticketing and business cards.

The second is a blog banner, etsy banner and avatar(profile image) created for Goddess findings

and thirdly Zedhead wanted a Lottie lady that reflected her style and products for use on her website and other marketing materials - Zedhead sells homewares, fashion and accessories using her own digitally printed fabrics.

It was a pleasure to work on all of these and the ones which I am working on at the moment.

Happy New Year - Whats happened to me since August?!

Well, I have been super busy in these last 6 months!

Lots of commissions in the pipeline a few of which are complete and I can share with you.
Since August 2008 a lot has happened and some life changing experiences are on the horizon!

I am having a baby this year, due on 7th April, hence why the blog suddenly went quiet! morning sickness took over my life for about 3 months and I just had to go with it :) then of course Christmas!

All is good now though and I've never felt better, so back to the Lottie Ladies and very much looking forward to the year ahead for many reasons - mainly my new little bean coming into the world but also lots of new and fabulous lottie ladies to grace you with their stylish presence!

So back to it - happy new year and watch this space!!!!!

Its been a while......but some very exciting news!

Well I am finally back on track after moving home, Internet connection working again, in a lovely new home with a whole room to myself to do my work, make as much mess as I like and create away! In amongst the move I had some very exciting news - my Lottie ladies are off to America to adorn marketing materials in Salons across the country! Please check out my lovely ladies at www.behindthechair.com in the bookstore section under 'whats new' and they have a whole area dedicated to me and my girls! just here.

I am so pleased with how they have used my work and hope to do more collections with them in the future. It was launched at a huge hairdressing show in Chicago and now available online.
I would love to know what you think, I would like to say a big thankyou to Mary and Mary who made this all possible.

New Home! Hooray!

hello just a quick update - I am moving home this saturday, so will be away from my computer for a while! as need to sort out internet etc. Please do continue to check out my work and if you do happen to purchase from my etsy shop, the items will be shipped on Monday 17th March - when I am back in action. First set of pins now available

As promised the first set of my pins are now available in my boutique. I would love your thoughts? I am really pleased with the outcome a I always like to put that extra effort into packaging them up, so they make an extra special gift....now onto making the next set 'bright and beautiful', which will be available in about a week.

Last week you met the lovely ladies as pocket mirrors ( which are now all available to buy right here) and soon there will be different collections of pin badges to collect in the following ranges:-

Sets of four

• Bright and Beautiful
• Model Behaviour

Sets of three/two

• Citrus
• neighbour

and finally they will be available to buy individually.

I hope to have the first set - Glamour Girls available buy the weekend. The images are a sneaky peek at the packaging......which of course is all handmade by myself and lovingly tied with a ribbon!!

I am also working on some new prints and trying so hard not to get distracted looking at everyone elses work on Flickr, Etsy etc.... its all so wonderful and I seriously worry about the addiction I seem to be gaining!!!!!!!

New Items This Week!

I have been working very hard, doing lots of sewing, photographing, packaging, drawing! and organising our flat ready to move out! Thats why I haven't posted lately - excuses, excuses!! I have been setting myself goals of what I want to achieve with my shop and illustrations and so far so good!

Here are my latest new additions - I have spent the last two weekends making the bags for them 100 so far and I am really pleased with the outcome. They will all be for sale in my etsy shop by the end of the week blue notes and corsage are available now!

Another goal is to post to my blog at least once a week to keep you all updated on my progress.
I will be taking part in my first craft fair in Walthamstow this spring/summer once a month. I will keep you posted once dates have been confirmed. I can't wait!

I have been really busy with graphic design work the past couple of weeks - Christmas is fast approaching and I have been busy designing a 36 page Toy Brochure.
Also I have had a few illustration commissions on the go - the one above and the other I am still working on. Check out my flickr site for all the projects I undertake. This weekend I hope to finalise some more illustrations for my Etsy shop-so keep your eyes peeled!
I love working on commissions as it is a good challenge for me to showcase my work and develop it in new ways.
